He’s hurting when I wake up in the morning and don’t thank Him for it.
He’s hurting when I rush out the door and say a prayer less than a minute long “thank you Jesus, protect me. Amen.”- What!! that’s it? That’s all I have to say?
He’s hurting when I don’t think about him enough.
He’s hurting when I’m not kind to a stranger.
He’s hurting when I criticize and judge instead of landing a helping hand.
He’s hurting when I have negative thoughts, instead of positive ones.
He’s hurting when I come home, exhausted from work or school and I don’t tell him how my day went. He’s more than willing to listen to me.
He’s hurting when I don’t spend time with Him.
He’s hurting when I don’t introduce Him to others.
He’s hurting when I don’t share Him with others and speak about Him.
He’s hurting when night falls and I don’t speak to Him before going to bed.
Being a youth director has a lot of challenges. People always have an opinion on how something should be done. They think because I’m open to suggestions it’s ok to assume that they are the ones in charge. The funny thing about this is that even though I’m a youth director at my church; The one that really has control is Jesus. He’s the only one that can change my ideas and programs, he’s the one that tells me “listen to what people need not what they want”. Jesus is my number one counselor, then the rest.
Have you ever had a plan, I mean like a really good skit, sermon or video to teach the youth something; But all of a sudden you teach something completely different? That has happened to me many times. That’s ok because Jesus is in control he has good intentions when he decides to change things up a little. The bible says:
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.- Jeremiah 29:11-13.
Jesus will never do something to harm you. He does it for your benefit and others as well. If you ever feel like your plans have changed, don’t be discouraged or afraid. Embrace it with open arms and remember to so all things for the glory and honor of Jesus Christ.
